Founder and Manager

Sean is from Portland, Texas, and aside from a few years in Germany as a kid, picking up fluent German, he has been a Texan pretty much his whole life. He has always been into guns, which was accelerated by his TXMGO partner-in-crime Tom Thornton, when Tom was a leader in his Boy Scout troop back in the mid-nineties.

Sean graduated from the University of Texas with a BA, double major in History and Government. After UT, he commissioned as an Armor Officer in the Army, and has served in various positions including Cavalry Platoon Leader, Infantry Company Executive Officer, Company Commander, Battalion Logistics Officer, Civil Affairs Team Chief. He graduated the Army’s Ranger School with class 06-09, and deployed to Iraq from 2009-2010 as a Platoon Leader and later XO of an Infantry Company.

After leaving the Army, Sean worked as a industrial salesman. Though working with some great companies, he never really felt a passion for what he was doing. So one day he quit his job, cashed in his life savings, decided follow his passions, and started Texas Machine-Gun & Ordnance.

Aside from guns and explosives, Sean loves travel and adventure. This has led to him visiting seventy something countries as diverse as North Korea and Nepal, to talking his way across rebel lines into the Democratic Republic of Congo or into Iraq as a tourist; and experiencing this as diverse as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to riding the Tans-Siberian railway across Russia. You will also often find him at the gym, eating at dodgy ethnic restaurants, enjoying a fine cigar while sipping a single-malt Scotch, flying airplanes, scuba diving, and obsessively reading Wikipedia articles.

Sean manages the day-to-day operations of TXMGO, and typically comes up with the relatively wild ideas TXMGO pursues, and then figures out how to do them in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. However he freely admits his boredom with the technical aspects of the said ideas, and relies on the rest of the TXMGO team to figure out how to make those ideas reality. Without the team, he thinks he'd just be an eccentric, rambling about crazy ideas on the Internet.
